According to section 660.100 of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 (WIA) the purpose of WIA is to provide workforce investment activities that increase the employment, retention and earnings of participants, and increase occupational skill attainment by participants, which will improve the quality of the workforce, reduce welfare dependency and enhance the productivity and competitiveness of the Nation’s economy.
Dutchess One Stop is not a job placement agency, does not serve as a headhunter for individuals and does not guarantee employment. Dutchess One Stop staff will support your job search by providing a full range of job seeker services.
Resource Room Services may be for you if you need access to any of the following:
- A computer to write a resume and cover letter
- The Internet to perform a job search or job research
- A printer to print a copy of your resume and cover letter
- A fax machine or postage to mail your resume and cover letter
- A telephone for job-search related calls
Career Counseling may be for you if want to:
- Identify your transferable skills
- Explore career options
- Take an interest assessment or aptitude test
- Perform a skills and training needs assessment
- Discuss substantial barriers to employment
Training* may be for you if you want to:
- Pursue a new career
- Obtain a license or credential that will increase your rate of pay
- Develop a necessary skill set for employability for a particular occupation
*Dutchess One Stop will only fund training under certain circumstances. In order for the customer to be awarded an Individual Training Account, (ITA) specific criteria must be met.
